Contest!! Name the Autographs to Win!

February 16, 2010
Yes, yes, yes! With all the other great contests that are going on, I’ve been inspired to create my own. The only difference between this one and the others is that mine has no theme whatsoever! I will test your knowledge of autographed baseballs and reward you with prizes from 3 different sports. You will be playing for 1 and only 1 grand prize which consists of:

3 sealed packs of the uber-rare (not really) 1993-94 Star Pro Basketball set! And…

3 sealed packs of from the 1997 Playbook By the Numbers set released by Scoreboard. You might be saying “Who-whatzit?”, but I secretly broke a box of these last week and it was a lot of fun.
And part 3 of the prize will consist of a 50 count hinged snap-case full of your pick of 1993 Action Packed All Star Gallery Baseball cards from this list! I don’t know how many that is yet but I’ll get back to you on that.
How to Enter:
Now that your down here, you’re probably wondering how to enter. First, you must name all the autographs shown in the picture below in the comments for this post. 1 answer per person. You cannot change your answer once you send it in. All comments will be moderated so no one will be able to see anyone’s answers until the drawing is over. If you correctly name all six, you will gain 5 entries into the random drawing which I will hold right after Friday the 19th at 12:01 AM PST. That’s your deadline. Of course, there should be a few people who answer correctly, so extra entries can be earned, but only earned if your answers are correct. If you are or become a follower of my blog, let me know and you will get 3 more entries. Also, if you blog about this contest on your own blog, you will earn 3 more entries, 1 blog per person.
All entries will be loaded into random.org in alphabetical order. After they have been randomized 3 times, the player with his or her name at the top wins! I’ll post the winner as soon as I get the results and the winner will be notified. Good luck!
So here are the autographs you need to identify. These particular autographs have NOT previously been mentioned anywhere on my blogs before, just so you know. Be sure to click on the picture to get a better look:

Virgil "Fire" Trucks Contest Win from Carl Crawford Cards

September 26, 2009

A little while ago, the Carl Crawford Cards blog was holding an impressive giveaway of 9 different Virgil Trucks autographed cards ranging from a 1950 Bowman (!) to a business card, all to 9 different winners. They were all recently received TTM specifically meant for a giveaway. I entered along with 24 other people and I came away with the #4 spot, a 1959 Topps!

What an awesome prize! I was thrilled when this arrived in the mail. For those of you who are asking themselves “Who is Virgil Trucks”?, don’t fret, I asked myself the same thing before I saw the contest. This guy pitched in the majors from 1941 to 1958, mostly for the Tigers, but also for the Browns, White Sox, Athletics and Yankees. He won a World Series in ’45 while with the Tigers, and in ’52 he pitched 2 no hitters in the same season, also with the Tigers. Yes, this was his final base card with Topps. He had quite the career and I’m sure his new book is a good read.

Bounty: Care of Sports Locker and Trader Crack’s Card Blog

August 22, 2009
JRJ over at the Sports Locker blog help a little contest a few weeks ago giving away some things he picked up while at The National. I happened to win the nice promo card featuring an all new vintage themed minor league set from TriStar!

He also sent this Score football card which he also got at The National. This is sweet because I’m actually putting together this set. This one surprised me though because I can’t find anything anywhere about an “Atomic” parallel. I’m guessing Atomic = Promo?

This one I won from a contest at Trader Crack’s Card Blog. This card brings many firsts to my collection. My first cut sig. My first Razor card. This card came from a pack that probably costs more than I make in a day, which will probably be a first and last! Who knew that cards can come out of a pack already slabbed!

Oh, and I almost forgot! Ryan was extremely generous and sent over a couple of team bags full of cards off of my want list! Thanks Ryan! I’d be happy to return the favor and have already gathered a few from your lists.

Contest for my 100th Post!

July 27, 2009

I know I probably don’t get more readers in a given day than I can count on one hand, but what the hey! Hopefully I get more than 1 contestant. I went through my toploaders and came up with a couple of doubles that I could give away. Came up with a Reggie Jackson and a Mike Piazza. The cards aren’t much but hopefully this can be fun and hopefully the cards are nice enough. Then I tried to come up with a link between the two players to make up a trivia question or 2!

Here’s the questions:

  1. What feat did Reggie Jackson, Mike Piazza and 342 other major leaguers accomplish three times in one game? (as of 7/8/09)
  2. What 1 state is home to the team or teams both Mike Piazza and Reggie Jackson played for when they accomplished this feat.

Here’s the Rules:

  1. Enter both your answers in a response to this post.
  2. Only entries posted before 11:59 PM PST Wednesday 7/29/09 will be counted.
  3. 1 entry per person. Any additional entries per person will not be counted and only the first answer will be counted.
  4. Each correct entry will be given a number in order of entry time and the numbers will be put in to random.org for the winner.

Here’s the Prize:
