Blaster Break: 2009 Press Pass Football pack 5 of 8

May 21, 2009

The Alphonso Smith card came out of the pack with a dent on one edge and two crunched corners.. but this 4 card pack came with a 5th card! Was it factory worker morals or cardboard karma?

A “Banner Season” insert limited to 1:4 packs.

The fifth card was another Matthew Stafford / Knowshon Moreno “Teammates” card. 21 cards out of this blaster so far and 4 of them are Staffords.. not bad.

Card of the Day: Turf Cigarettes Gerald L. Patterson Tennis Tobacco Card

May 10, 2009

During my visit to the Jantzen Beach card show last weekend, I was amazed to see a box of old British tobacco cards sitting on a table with a sign stating “3 for $1”. I couldn’t resist checking them out since I had never seen anything like them in person before! I sifted through all the cards on chickens and flowers and I found a few to my liking. A few tennis, a few flags and a couple astronomy cards. I even found a Chinese soccer card.

2009 Upper Deck A Piece of History Baseball

May 10, 2009

Here’s the Artifacts I promised. Now I’m a little bit color blind, so I’m afraid to ask but, is that a red/pink colored Gaby Sanchez card down there? I can’t find any mention of those colored base parallels anywhere on upperdeck.com or beckett.com.

I’m all for history themed trading cards, but we all know Upper Deck can’t touch Topps’ American Heritage.

Blaster Break: 2009 Press Pass Football pack 1 of 8

May 8, 2009

I found myself near a Target this morning and of course I took the opportunity to splurge! I had many blaster choices, but most were older, sets that I didn’t have much more interest in. It came down to ’09 Press Pass football or ’09 Artifacts baseball.. and I went with a Press Pass blaster and a single pack of Artifacts to have a taste. I’ll post Artifacts later but for now, here’s the first Press Pass pack.

[insert, 1:4 pack odds]
